
Cheri Newton – is a Writer and Storyteller, developing character-driven drama and genre storytelling across historical, contemporary and speculative worlds.
Her current focus is LAW OF SIMILARS (also known as THE HOMEOPATH’S DAUGHTER), a historical drama series in development.
Her screenplay MUDLARKS was placed in the top 20% of the Academy Nicholl Fellowships, and her feature MAIL ORDER BRIDE (now titled LOVE IN AN AGE OF WAR) was semi-finalist at the Moondance International Film Festival.
Cheri’s writing draws on a diverse background spanning journalism, international relations, and screenwriting, including 15 years living and working in the UK. She holds a master’s degree in American Media and Popular Culture (Film and Screenwriting), a BA in International Relations and a Diploma in Homeopathy.
Additional work includes travel writing published in The Boston Globe and artist profiles, travel and cultural subjects in regional publications. Her short play, THE LETTER, made it to the penultimate round of judging at Windsor Fringe’s Kenneth Branagh Award for New Drama Writing. The content of that play served as catalyst to her developing the material into a deeper dramatic work called MRS NEWTON’S COTTAGE.
