Cheri Newton – Writer and Storyteller

Cheri Newton is an accomplished writer whose work spans multiple genres, including personal growth, healing, travel writing, and creative storytelling. With a background in both journalism and screenwriting, Cheri brings a unique voice to her writing, blending personal experiences with compelling research and profound insights.

Her latest undertaking, a book called When Healing Is Whole, offers a transformative approach to wellness, combining homeopathy with conventional treatments- to empower readers on their healing journeys. Drawing from her own experience with breast cancer, Cheri’s new book should provide a beacon of hope, focusing on the importance of mental, emotional, and physical healing.

In addition to her new book endeavor, Cheri is a blossoming screenwriter and playwright. Her screenplay Mudlarks was selected among the top 20% in the prestigious Nicholl Fellowships, while her play The Letter, which is the basis for her upcoming novel Mrs. Newton’s Cottage, reached the penultimate round of the Kenneth Branagh New Playwrights Contest at Windsor Fringe.

Cheri’s travel stories, including pieces on places like Cornwall, England, and Jeju Island in South Korea, have appeared recently in The Boston Globe. She also writes a monthly column on local artists and contributes travel stories to Desert Leaf, showcasing her diverse interests and storytelling talents.

Cheri’s passion for writing, healing, and empowering others shines through in all her work, whether in print, on the screen, or through her travel pieces. She is author of the screenplays Mudlarks, Hula and Mail Order Bride. As mentioned,The Academy Nicholl Fellowships placed Mudlarks among the top 20% of all entries in the 2015 competition. Mail Order Bride received semi-finalist status at the Moondance International Film Festival. It has been renamed Love In An Age Of War.

With an academic and career background in International Relations, Cheri’s life experience has taken her around the world- feeding her desire to connect with the people, cultures and landscapes of many places, including England where she lived and worked for 15 years. Cheri completed a Masters Degree in American Media and Popular Culture  (Film and Screenwriting) and has a B.A. in International Relations. She also achieved a Diploma in Homeopathy from The School of Homeopathy, NY.
