Whispers From the Ancestors

In recent years, I have been especially engaged in the amazing stories of my husband’s interesting family. Their history, in the artistic enclave of Lamorna Cove in Cornwall and in London, has dominated my writing. My short play, ‘The Letter’ is about Kim’s grandmother’s struggles on the cove. The play made it to the penultimate round of judging in the Kenneth Branagh Award for New Drama Writing at Windsor Fringe in 2020. I am now writing Mrs. Newton’s Cottage, which encapsulates all the wisdom, and fullness of life, that this artistic family has brought into my own life. Lamorna Cove and southwestern Cornwall has always drawn us into its whispering past and, in February 2025, Kim and I went back to research and photograph the area for our Boston Globe travel article. This is the wonderful result of our collaboration, published in April 2025.
